Terms of service

Last updated: 15 October 2026

These terms explain how buying from Atlantis Office works: how orders are made, prices, delivery, returns and what happens if something goes wrong. Please read them before you order. If anything is unclear, email us at sales@atlantisoffice.com and we will explain.

1. Who we are

This website is run by Atlantis Office Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 07396459, VAT number GB 101602 677. Our registered office and our address for letters and enquiries:

Atlantis Office Limited, 11C Stephenson Rd, Clacton-on-Sea CO15 4XA
Email: sales@atlantisoffice.com
Phone: 01206 688770

2. Business and private customers

Most of our customers are businesses, schools and other organisations. We also sell to private individuals, for example for a home office.

  • If you are buying as a private individual (a "consumer"), you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Nothing in these terms takes those rights away. Where a section applies only to consumers or only to businesses, it says so.
  • If you are buying for a business or organisation, you confirm you have authority to order on its behalf.

3. Our other pages

These terms work together with our Delivery, Returns and Privacy pages, and with the information on each product page (delivery time, delivery charge, returns, warranty and whether an item is made to order). If a product page says something more specific than these terms, the product page applies to that item.

4. Ordering

  • When you place an order on our website you are offering to buy the items. We send an email to say we have received your order. The contract between us starts when we accept your order, which we confirm by email, or when we dispatch the items, whichever is first.
  • If we cannot accept your order, for example because an item is no longer available, a supplier has changed its price or there is an obvious error on the website, we will tell you and refund anything you have paid in full.
  • Please check your order carefully before you confirm it, especially sizes, colours, fabrics and quantities. If you spot a mistake, email us straight away.

5. Prices and VAT

  • Prices on our website are in pounds sterling and are shown excluding VAT, with the price including VAT shown alongside on product pages. VAT at the current rate is added at checkout. Delivery charges are also shown excluding VAT, and VAT is added to them at checkout.
  • Quantity discounts, where a product page shows them, and deal prices are taken off automatically at checkout.
  • We check our prices carefully, but mistakes can happen. If the correct price of an item you have ordered is higher than the price shown, we will contact you before going ahead, and you can choose to continue at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
  • Installation is priced separately on request (see section 8).

6. Payment

  • Payment is taken at checkout through Shopify's secure checkout by card or the other payment methods shown there. We never see or store your full card details.
  • Businesses, schools and public bodies who need to pay by invoice or purchase order can email us before ordering and we will arrange it. Invoices are payable within the time shown on the invoice. For business customers, we may charge interest on late payment under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
  • The items remain ours until we have received full payment. Once they are delivered, they are your responsibility (see section 7).

7. Delivery

  • Delivery times and charges are shown on each product page and explained on our Delivery page. Delivery times are estimates in working days from when we confirm your order. We will always tell you if an item is going to be late.
  • Someone needs to be at the delivery address to receive the items. Please tell us when you order about steps, narrow access, no lift, restricted parking or anything else that could affect delivery. If a delivery cannot be made because nobody is there or the access is not as described, we may charge the cost of a second delivery.
  • Please check your delivery when it arrives and tell us about any damage or missing items as soon as possible, ideally within 48 hours, with photos if you can. We will put it right; if only a part is damaged, we replace that part (see section 10).
  • Risk in the items passes to you when they are delivered to the address you gave us.
  • If your order is very late, a consumer can cancel and get a full refund for anything not yet delivered. A business customer can cancel the late items if they have not been delivered within 30 days of the date we gave, unless they are made to order and already in production.

8. Assembly and installation

  • Most furniture is delivered flat-packed for self assembly, with the maker's instructions, unless you choose a fully assembled option where a product page offers it. Please follow the instructions; we are not responsible for damage caused by incorrect assembly.
  • We can also install furniture anywhere in the UK. Installation is quoted separately and agreed with you in writing before the work is booked. The quote will say what is included.
  • Before ordering, please check the furniture will fit: the room, doorways, stairs and lifts it has to pass through. Sizes on our website are the maker's figures and may vary slightly. If you are unsure, email us and we will help.

9. Changing your mind, cancelling and returns

How returns work for each item is shown in the Returns section of its product page and on our Returns page. In summary:

  • Before dispatch: you can cancel a stocked item free of charge before it has been dispatched. Email us as soon as possible.
  • Made to order items (made or ordered specially for you, for example in your choice of size, fabric, colour or finish) cannot be cancelled once production has started, and cannot be returned unless they are faulty, damaged or not as described. This applies to consumers too: the legal right to cancel does not cover goods made to your specification.
  • Private customers (consumers): for most other items you have the legal right to cancel within 14 days of the day you receive them, without giving a reason. To cancel, email sales@atlantisoffice.com with your order number (a clear statement is enough; you do not have to use a form). We will arrange collection. We refund the price you paid, including the standard delivery charge, within 14 days of getting the items back (or of you showing us they have been collected). We can deduct the return fee shown on the product page, which covers the cost of collecting the items. Please keep the items in good condition: we can reduce a refund if the items have been used or handled more than you would need to look at them in a shop, for example assembled and used.
  • Business customers: change of mind returns are accepted where the product page allows them, within 14 days of delivery, unused and in their original packaging. The return fee shown on the product page is taken off the refund.
  • Please do not send anything back without contacting us first: we arrange the collection.

10. Damaged, faulty or wrong items, and warranties

  • If an item arrives damaged, faulty or not as ordered, we will put it right at no cost to you. If only part of an item is damaged or faulty (for example a chair base, an arm, a gas lift or a desk leg), we replace or repair that part, not the whole item. We replace the whole item, or refund it, only where the damage or fault cannot be put right with a part, or where the law gives you the right to.
  • Most products come with a manufacturer's guarantee, shown on the product page (up to 5 years depending on the item). It covers faults in materials and manufacture under normal use. It does not cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, incorrect assembly, alterations, or use beyond the product's stated limits (for example a chair's maximum user weight or hours of use per day).
  • Consumers: the law says goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If they are not, you have the right to reject them within 30 days for a full refund, and after that the right to a repair or replacement, or in some cases a price reduction or refund. The manufacturer's guarantee is in addition to these rights.
  • Business customers: if an item is faulty, our responsibility is to repair it or replace the faulty part, or, if that is not possible, replace the item or refund the price paid for it, under the terms of the manufacturer's guarantee.

11. Product information

  • We describe and photograph our products as accurately as we can. Colours, wood grains and fabrics can look slightly different on different screens and between batches. If colour matters, email us and we will try to send a sample or more photos before you order.
  • Sizes are approximate and may vary slightly from the figures shown.
  • Makers sometimes improve their products. We may supply an item with minor changes that do not affect what it does or how it looks overall.

12. Our responsibility to you

  • Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
  • Consumers: we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable. We supply products for domestic and private use; if you use them for business, we are not responsible for loss of profit, loss of business or business interruption.
  • Business customers: we are not responsible for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of revenue, loss of data or any indirect or consequential loss. Our total responsibility for any order is limited to the price paid for that order.

13. Things outside our control

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, for example severe weather, transport problems, strikes, or a maker or supplier being unable to supply. If this happens we will tell you as soon as we can and do what we can to limit the delay. If the delay is long, you can cancel and we will refund anything you have paid for items not delivered.

14. Your personal information

We only use your personal information as explained in our Privacy policy.

15. Complaints and disputes

  • If you are unhappy with anything, please email sales@atlantisoffice.com or call 01206 688770. We are a small family-run business and we will do our best to put things right quickly.
  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one on this page when you placed it. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
